YoGems-Victor badminton championship kick starts in Jaipur

YoGems-VICTOR Jaipur Open Badminton Championship 2019 finally kick started on Saturday. The digital scoring oriented ‘Paperless’ tourney received participation from approx 300 students which were representing around 80+ schools of Jaipur region on the opening day of the tournament. This 2 day tournament is being held at Jaipur Sports Academy, D-123-124, Kewat Marg, D- Block, Vaishali Nagar and is open for both Boys and Girls in singles age group category of U9, U11, U13, U15 & U17. In addition to this men’s singles and doubles are also being played at Jaipur Sports Academy, during the course of 2days.

The first day saw some thrillers in U15 boys singles age category at JSA. In which match between Lakshay Matwa and Kanishk Tiwari was the absolute delight to watch in the opening round. Lakshay Matwa of Pink Sports Academy defeated JSA’s Kanishk Tiwari in a 3 set match by 15-5, 12-15, 15-11. Another great match occurred between Ace badminton’s Tushar joy and Pink Sports’s Bhupendra Meena where Tushar emerged victorious by 14-15, 15-3, 15-10 score line.

In the round of 64 of U15 boys which was played later in the day saw Chetan beniwal of Vidyut Nagar crushing Harsh Vardhan of Metropolitan Club in a 3 set encounter by 15-4, 1-15, 15-7. In another interesting match of R64 Mrigank Sharma of desert inn smashed Keshav Agrawal of Sanskriti Academy by 14-15, 15-9, 15-11. But match of the day was clearly the encounter between Manan Gaur of DMR and PCS’s Aadit Yadav who played a nail biting 3 set in which Manan emerged victorious by 14-15, 15-14, 15-8. This match saw two golden points being played in it and was the longest match of the day. Piyush Patil of Ace defeated Kirtivardhan Charan of shutters in a heartbreaking fashion by 12-15, 15-14, 15-9. In the end following players were successful in qualifying for the Round of 64: satwik Awasthi, Piyush Patil, Nipun Sharma Jai, Manan Gaur, Ahaan Gupta, Lakshay Sain, Priyansh Jain, IshMeet Wadhawan, Nitigya Sharma, Mrigank Sharma, Mohit Singh and Chirag Khandelwal.

Matches of R64 in BS Under13 & Under17 age category were also played on the day. And were still being played during the time of this report.

Winners and runners up of this championship is promised to be given Trophies, Medals, Gifts from Sponsors i.e Victor and certificates. Certificates will also be given to all the participants in this tournament.
