YoGems Emerging Players’ Dehradun District Badminton Championship concluded in great manner!

A two-staged District Ranking Badminton Tournament is being organised by District Badminton Association Dehradhun in association with YoGems at the Badminton Court, Parade Ground. This event was kicked off on May 5th, 2018. This tournament is supported by the Uttarakhand State Badminton Association (USBA).
Around 400 players from over 70 schools are taking part in this Badminton Tournament. The finalists of each category in the ‘Emerging Players Ranking Badminton Tournament’ will progress to the ‘Elite Players Ranking Tournament’ which will consist of only the BAI ID holders from the district.
Today matches were held for under 9, under 11, under 13, under 15 and under 17 age groups for both boys and girls in Singles category.
In the final of the GS U9 category, Sneha Rawat of Sherwood Public School beat Alisha Bhandari of Sun Valley School 15-10, 15-5 to clinch the title.
In the final of the GS U11 category, Vedika Bisht of The Indian Academy beat Aanya Bisht of Doon International School 21-13, 21-11 to be crowned champion.
In the final GS U13 tournament, Aanya Bisht of Doon International School beat Rishika Mishra of The Asian School 21-18, 21-10 to win the title. The two finalists will now compete in Elite Players Ranking Tournament’.
In the final of GS U15 meet, Palak Manral of Summer Valley School overcame Astha Bhore of Kendriya Vidyalaya 21-18, 21-8 to finish in the top spot.
In the GS U17 category, Palak Manral of Summer Valley School beat Aadita Chauhan of the Doon School 22-20, 20-22, 21-15 in the final to grab top honours.
In the BS U9 competition, Vedansh Negi of Universal Academy beat Rudransh Joshi of Sun Valley School 15-11, 16-14 in the final. Both the players will now participate in the second stage of the tournament.
In the BS U11 category, Ishaan Negi of Universal Academy beat Suryaksh Rawat of Sherwood Public School 21-13, 22-20 in an exciting final to win the tournament. They will now compete in the second stage of the tournament.
In the final of the BS U13 category, Prashant Rana of Rose Mount School overcame Ishaan Negi of Universal Academy 19-21, 21-13, 22-20 to be crowned the winner.
In the BS U15 tournament, Dhruv Kamboj of Uttaranchal Childrens Academy School beat Mayank Lohani of Summer Valley School 21-15, 21-7 in the final. Both of these players have received a direct entry to the Elite Players Ranking Tournament’.
In the BS U17 category, Lakshman Singh of Govt. Inter College made the final of the tournament beating Arnav Gauba of Shemford Doon 15-6, 15-5 in the semi-final round. The second semi-final is scheduled to be held between Aahaan Pathak of St. Joseph’s Academy and Aman Naithani of Springs Hills School.
The winner and runners up of each category will progress to the ‘Elite Players Ranking Tournament’ which will be played on May 7th, 2018.
