YoGems Elite Players’ Dehradun District Badminton Invitational Championship comes to a close amid much fanfare!

A two-staged District Ranking Badminton Tournament, conducted by District Badminton Association Dehradhun in association with YoGems at the Badminton Court, Parade Ground reached its conclusion today. This event was kicked off on May 7th, 2018. The second stage, known as the Elite Players Ranking Tournament’ was organised today. This tournament is supported by the Uttarakhand State Badminton Association (USBA).
Around 400 players from over 70 schools took part in this Badminton Tournament.
The following players reached the final of ‘Emerging Players Ranking Badminton Tournament’.
Girls Under 13- Aanya Bisht of Doon International School (Winner), Rishika Mishra of The Asian School (Runners up).
Girls Under 15 – Palak Manral of Summer Valley School (Winner), Astha Bhore of Kendriya Vidyalaya (Runners up).
Girls Under 17- Palak Manral of Summer Valley School (Winner), Aadita Chauhan of the Doon School (Runners up).
Boys Under 13- Prashant Rana of Rose Mount School (Winner), Ishaan Negi of Universal Academy (Runners up).
Boys Under 15- Dhruv Kamboj of Uttaranchal Childrens Academy School (Winner), Mayank Lohani of Summer Valley School (Runners up)

Boys Under 17 – Aahaan Pathak of St. Joseph’s Academy (Winner), Lakshman Singh of Govt. Inter College (Runners up).
The finalists of each category (except under 9 and under 11) in the ‘Emerging Players Ranking Badminton Tournament’ progressed to the ‘Elite Players Ranking Tournament’ which consisted of only the BAI ID holders from the district.
Today, matches were played in under 13, under 15 and under 17 (Singles and Doubles) age groups for both Boys and Girls.
The following players reached the final of ‘Elite Players Ranking Badminton Tournament’.
In the GS U13 category, Anushka Juyal of Social Baluni Public School beat Ojasvi Tadiyal of Doon Blossoms School 15-8, 15-5 in the final to be crowned champion.
In the BS U13 category, Suryaksh Rawat of Sherwood Public School beat Prashant Rana of Rose Mount School 21-11, 19-21, 21-17 in the final to become the champion.
In the BD U13 category, the pair of Shashank Rana of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Prashant Rana of Rose Mount School beat the pair of Suryaksh Rawat of Sherwood Public School and Abhay Rawat of St. Thomas College 21-18, 21-14 in the final.
In the GS U15 meet, Anushka Juyal of Social Baluni Public School beat Jayantika Rautela of Ann Mary School 21-7, 23-21 in the final.
In the BS U15 category, Aahaan Pathak of St. Joseph’s Academy beat Dhanvantry Sharma of Guru Nanak Misson Public School 12-21 21-6 21-18 in the final.
In BD U15, the pair of Harshit Bhatt of Shri Guru Nanak Public School and Ayush Bisht of St. Kabeer Academy beat the pair of Mayank Lohani of Summer Valley School and Prashant Rana of Rose Mount School 22-24, 21-9, 21-11 in the final.
In the GS U17 category, Jayantika Rautela of Ann Mary School beat Aadita Chauhan of the Doon School 21-18 21-17 in the final.
In the BS U17 meet, Akshat Negi of Touch Wood School beat Aaryesh Chauhan of Doon Presidency School 21-19 21-23 22-20 in the final.
In the GD U17 category, the pair of Saumya Singh of Ann Mary School and Astha Bhore of Kendriya Vidyalaya beat Jayantika Rautela of Ann Mary School and Ishita Negi of St. Jude’s Public School 22-20, 24-22 in the final.
In the BD U17 category, the pair of Dhanvantry Sharma of Guru Nanak Misson Public School and Saroj Sunar of Shri Guru Nanak Public School beat the pair of Akshat Negi of Touch Wood School and Aaryesh Chauhan of Doon Presidency School 13-21 21-15 18-21 in the final.
Mr. Ashok Kumar, (IPS) ADG Police and President, USBA was the chief guest on the occasion. He presented the prizes to all the winners and runners up of the tournament.
