Women Basketball League ends at Gindun Sports Center

With strict adherence to the COVID SOPs, a 3-day Women Basketball League concluded at Gindun Sports Center Rajbagh here in which the team Bleach Wolves emerged victorious in the final against Hoopstars.

Chief guest on the occasion was Inshah Bashir, Captain and the first female wheelchair basketball player. Mushtaq Zargar, Manager of Gindun Sports Center was also present.

On the occasion, Inshah appreciated the organisers for the event and encouraged the players.

“I congratulate both the organisers for such a great tournament for women and appreciate their hard work and dedication towards the game,” she said.

She added: “I also congratulate the winners of the tournament and I hope that in future such leagues happen more often as they encourage these women to show their talent.”

The league was organized by Useeba Bashir, Adeena Wani and Hadiya Muzaffar and sponsors for the league were Merani, Hi-Tech Dealers, Mad for Momos, The Kingz Landing, Caliph’s Pizza, Dribble Academy and Makeup by Tanisha.

The winning team received a cash prize of rupees 5000 and runner up 3000 rupees.

The organizers said that in the league around 55 women players of the Valley participated.

Vadahi who scored the highest points for her team was awarded MVP of the tournament and she received a free makeup session by Tanisha.

The organiser said that the main aim of the tournament was to provide a platform for the women of the Valley and allow them to hone their talent. They also thanked the sponsors for their support.

“Our main aim in organizing the tournament was to provide a platform for the women players after facing such a stressful year. The league would help them and encourage them for a new start; I thank the sponsors for their unconditional support,” Useeba Bashir one of the organizers said.
