White Nights, Russia: Manipur shuttler Meiraba Luwang clinches gold

Maisnam Meiraba Luwang (16), one of the rising stars of Manipur in India’s badminton galaxy, once again shone when he won U-19 singles title at the White Night Russian Junior International Badminton 2019 tournament at St Petersburg in Russia.
Organised by the National Badminton Federation of Russia under BWF/Badminton Europe, the number 3 seed Meiraba lifted his first under-19 singles title after he knocked out his fellow country man from Pune, shuttler Varun Kapur by 21-5; 21-9 during the final play of the tournament.
Luwang is in great form as he has won 4 consecutive domestic titles this year and this tournament was his first taste of international title. Badminton Association of India also recognized the efforts of Meirba and congratulated him and Varun Kapur on winning Gold and Silver medals respectively.
