Veteran Football championship to start from today; Bhaichung to play

The 6th edition of the International Veteran Football Championship organised by the United Brothers Club will kick start at the SAI ground in Paltan Bazar in Guwahati, Assam. 

Teams form Meghalaya, Assam, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Sikkim will be in action this time. The prime attraction of this year’s championship will be participation of Jessore Club from Bangladesh, and a team from Nepal.

The final of the day/night event is slated for February 2. Former Indian captain Bhaichung Bhutia will be in action representing the Sikkim team.

The winning team will walk away with a cash award of Rs 50,000 (in memory of Kanak Ch Barish) while the runners-up team will become richer by Rs 30,000.

Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal will be present as chief guest in the closing function, stated a release.
