Uttarakhand’s Unnati marches into quarters

Top seed Unnati Bisht of Uttarakhand defeated Kerala’s Treesa Jolly to move into the girls’ U-19 quarterfinals at the 28th Smt Krishna Khaitan Memorial All-India Junior National Badminton Tournament at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Chandigarh. Unnati won 23-21 21-19.

Another Uttarakhand shuttler, Sneha Rajwar stunned fifth seed Deepshikha Singh of Delhi 21-15 22-20 in the pre-quarters. Third seed Mansi Singh of Uttar Pradesh ousted Srivedya Gurazada of Telangana 21-10 21-14, while fourth seed Smit Toshniwal of Maharashtra survived 21-18 17-21 22-20 against Aadya Variyath.

Sixth seed Aditi Bhatt of Uttarakhand registered a 21-7 21-16 win over Janani Ananthakumar, while seventh seed Aashi Rawat of Delhi drubbed Telangana’s Keyura Mopati 21-13 21-18. Haryana’s Sakshi Gahlawat came from behind to beat ninth seed Uthsava Palit 13-21 24-22 21-17 in the pre-quarterfinals.
