The Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida has served as Afghanistan’s home ground since the past 2 years. However, a dispute of the telecast of live matches in August 2017 had led to the temporary suspension of the venue from Afghanistan’s cricket calendar. The issue, as it seems, has been resolved and Afghanistan are all set to host Bangladesh Under-17 side from 13th March to 27th March 2018. They two junior sides will play a series of 2 three-day matches and 3 one-day matches over the course of 15 days.

This comes as a huge relief for cricket fans near the capital city which has not hosted an international match since 8 months. The 8,000 capacity stadium will soon increase its capacity to 40,000 in the coming years. It has served as the home ground of the Afghanistan national team since 2015 when it was shifted from Sharjah. India is also scheduled to play Afghanistan’s first ever test match in June later in the year.

Cricket relations between the two countries have been cordial and are expected to prosper in the coming times.
