Top Seed Anirudh and Arnav make way to the Semis

Top seed Anirudh Sangra managed to overpower a tough challenge by Yashasvi Balhara before cementing his place in the boys’ U-14 semifinals in the ongoing Roots-AITA Talent Series-7, here today.

Sangra locked the first set 6-4, but Balhara bounced back in the second set with a 4-6 verdict. In the deciding game, Sangra managed to pull off a 12-10 win. Third seed Arnav Malik registered an identical hard fought win against Keshav Dangi 6-2 3-6 (10-5), while fourth seed Aarush Sharma defeated Varchasva 6-3 1-6 (11-9).

In the last quarterfinal, Umang Singh Cogi registered a 3-6 7-5(10-3) victory against Satvik Singla. In the boys’ U-12 quarterfinals, second seed Simardeep Singh blanked Abhinav Sangra without conceding a single game. Third seed Sanidhya Dhar also won an easy outing against Shorya Jishtu 6-3 6-0. Hruhaan Soni meanwhile came from one set down to defeat Siddardh Mohan 1-6 6-4(10-5). In the last quarter, Rushil Bakshi also logged a comeback 1-6 6-1(10-6) victory against Laksh.
Top seed Ananya Dogra stormed into the girls U-14 quarters by defeating Nandini Aggarwal 6-2 7-5. Second seed Sia Mahajan also made her way to the quarters by defeating Shrawasti 6-2 6-1. Ivleen Kaur defeated Akshdha Sharma 6-2 6-1, while Bhumika Gupta overpowered Ajenika Puri 6-1 6-0. Chhavi Saini also logged a 6-2 6-2 win against Jaya Kapoor and Isheeta Midha blanked Khushi 6-3 6-2. In the last match, Kashvi moved further by defeating Diya Choudhary 7-5 6-3.

In the quarters of the girls’ U-12 category, Krittika Katoch blanked Nandini Aggarwal 7-6(2) 6-1. Inaaya Mittal faced some resistance before logging a 6-3 7-6(5) victory over Niharika Moudgil. Shrawasti defeated Khushi Dangi 6-1 6-0, while Chhavi Saini managed to beat Jaya Kapoor 6-4 0-6(10-7).
