Third Gold comes India’s way at the Archery Asia Cup
March 9, 2018
India managed to win yet another gold on the concluding day of the Archery Asia Cup. Indian trio of Akash, Gora Ho and Gaurav Lambe defeated Mongolia’s Adiyasuren Baasankhuu, Otgonbold Baatarkhuyag and Gantugs Jantsan 27-26 in the tie-breaker to clinch the third gold in the recurve category.
Added to the three gold are another three bronze medal to take India’s tally to 6 in the tournament. This is a great sign for the tem ahead of the CWG and Asian Games to be held later in the year. Bangkok has proved to be a great venue for the country’s archery hopes. Much was expected from compound men’s team in the third place playoff and the compound mixed team as well, but both of them crashed out at the end.
Archery, which originated in India, has been a sport of pride for India. However, we have not yet managed to bag a medal at the Olympics. The team would be looking to change its fortunes in Tokyo.
