The evolution of sports in India

I guess all of you have heard this very popular saying – ‘ Padhoge likhoge banoge nawab, kheloge kudoge banoge kharab’. In today’s world the context of the line has completely changed owing to the fame, lifestyle of a sportsman and development in the field of sports. Gone are those days when parents used to force their kids to study and disdained the very idea of a kid focusing his/her time into a certain sport or sports. Gradually, parents have become a lot more supportive and encourage their kids to excel in the game of their choice.


Even bollywood can’t keep itself away from the charm and popularity of sports and sportsmen and lately a lot of films have been made on the biographies of athletes and sportspersons namely ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, ‘MS Dhoni – The untold story’ and various others. One thing that needs to be noticed is that all of these films proved to be blockbuster, indicating that audience loves to watch movies related to sports and sports personalities.

The current generation kids need to be grateful that they are motivated and encouraged if they have a desire to play, excel or even pursue a career in a particular sport. With the betterment in sporting facilities, academies and training facilities; we would see a lot more burgeoning players in various sports field in the coming years.
