Suman will represent India at World University Games

21 year old Judoka Suman of Chandigarh will be representing India at World University Games in Italy from July 3-14. She will compete in U-57kgs category. Suman took judo at the age of 11 and won many medals for Haryana where she was born. She is a student of GGDSD College, Sector 32.
Selection trials took place in Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar on March 16 and 40+ judokas participated in it. Suman started her career under the supervision of Panchkula-based Sudhir Bedi.
She represented Panchkula district in the Senior National Judo Championship in 2018-19, and in the same year, while representing GGDSD college, she won a silver medal in the All India Inter University Championship. In the previous 3 editions of the inter university championships, Suman has won a silver and two bronze medals.
“There’s a lot to handle for a sportsperson. I have been doing it for years now. My main focus remains on good diet and extra practice hours, whereas one or two hours of daily study is enough to manage the academics,” she said.
