Sukirthan, Sannah champions

Sukirthan Arun, with seven points from seven games, and Sannah Manikandan (five points from six) clinched the under-7 titles in the Chennai district selection chess championship, organised by the Chennai District Chess Association, on Sunday.

Siddharth Sabharishankar and Trisha bagged the under-19 crowns.

Under-11: Boys: Mrithyunjay Mahadevan (7/8).

Girls: Sajitha (6/7).


Open: R. Abinandhan (7.5/8); Girls: Rindhiya (6/7).

Under-19: Open: Siddharth Sabharishankar (4.5/5); Girls: Trisha (3.5/4).

Dream spell by Nithish

Nithish Shankar picked up eight for 19 to set up a nine-wicket win for Korattur against Classic in the TDCA second division league.

The scores:

II division: Classic 41 in 17 overs (Nithish Shankar eight for 19) lost to Korattur 43 for one in five overs.

Gowrishankar, Shrinik do it for Budding Star

Gowrishankar (70) and Shrinik (50) shone in Budding Star CA’s 67-win over PSBB Millennium in the final of the Sir Vivian Richards Trophy under-14 tournament at the Sarojini Varadappan school ground in Poonamallee.

The scores (final):

Budding Star CA 191 for four in 30 overs (Gowrishankar 70, Shrinik 50) bt PSBB (Millennium) 124 for nine in 30 overs.

Jegan delivers for

Engine Factory

Medium-pacer K. Jegan (six for 20) bowled Engine Factory Avadi to a 31-run win over Samsung India in a Group B match of the Lucas TVS-TDCA Trophy.

The scores: Group B: Engine Factory Avadi 93 in 27 overs (Ganesh Moorthy four for 25) bt Samsung India 62 in 13.2 overs (K. Jegan six for 20, L. Relson four for 20).
