Students should learn science in native tongue

Learning science and technology in their mother tongue till Class X will help students become better engineers, said Anna University vice-chancellor M K Surappa on Tuesday.
“In countries like Germany, France and Japan, which are advanced in science, children learn the subject in their respective mother tongues. They are able to understand concepts better and move on,” he added.

The VC was speaking to reporters on Tuesday during an announcement regarding the 18th edition of the ‘Tamil Internet Conferenc’.
The conference will be organised by the varsity in association with the International Forum of Information Technology in Tamil (INFITT) from September 20 to 22, the main theme being Tamil robotics and language processing.
