State TT championship: Suhaan & Hardik set for title clash

Sehajpreet Kaur from Ludhiana today gave a stunning performance as she got the better of seeded players in the quarterfinal and semifinal to secure her berth in the sub-junior final on the second day of the Third Punjab State Ranking Table Tennis Championship being conducted at Shastri Hall near Guru Nanak Stadium. In the quarterfinal, Sehajpreet overpowered third seeded city mate, Aishveer, whom she beat 3-1 and then in the semifinal, Sehajpreet outclassed Cherish from Mohali 3-0 to enter the final, wherein she will take on Pragati Priya from Mohali, who in the semifinal, recorded 3-1 win over Kayna from Amritsar.
In the sub-junior boys (semifinal), Suhaan and Hardik, both from Jalandhar, wrapped up their respective encounters to settle for the title clash. Suhaan edged out his city mate, Rajbir, 3-1 while Hardik humbled Sagar from Mohali in a similar fashion (3-1) to set up the summit clash.
In the junior girls category (quarterfinals), Aarushi from Mohali beat Mehar from Ludhiana 3-1; Ishreen from Ludhiana beat Deepali from Jalandhar 3-1; Simran from Mohali beat Gulsheen from Patiala 3-2 and Rishita from Jalandhar beat Sehajpreet Kaur from Ludhiana 3-1 to advance into the semifinals.
In the men’s veterans final, Lovkesh Sharma from Ferozepur outplayed Harjinder Singh from Ludhiana 3-1 to clinch the title.
