State Basketball: Jalandhar, LBA register their successive wins

On the third and penultimate day of the 70th Senior Punjab State Basketball Championship for Men and Women, which is being held in Ludhiana at the Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) and Jalandhar district registered second successive victory in the men’s section.

The LBA got the better of Amritsar district 83-69 and Jalandhar district prevailed over Faridkot district 93-79 to prove their class. Jagdeep Singh and Talwinder Singh accounted for 20 and 19 points, respectively for the academy whereas Tejinder Pal Singh sank in 21 points for the losing side and Sukhdeep Singh contributed 19 points.

In the match between Jalandhar and Faridkot districts, Gurkirpal Singh was the main scorer for the winning side while Robin chipped in with 17 points. For Faridkot district, Abhi and Ranvir Singh scored 21 and 14 points, respectively.

In the women’s section, LBA beat Jalandhar district 66-47 to score second win in a row, Kirandeep Kaur and Shabnam played the pivot role in academy’s victory, scoring 15 and 11 points, respectively while Pooja and Gauri of Jalandhar with 26 and 11 points, respectively, reduced the margin.

In the second match, Amritsar district outclassed Ropar district 49-19 in which Gagandeep Kaur excelled, scoring 14 points.
