Sports Complex Membership: Chandigarh Sports Department to take user fee online soon
July 26, 2022, Chandigarh
The UT Sports Department will soon introduce a new system to pay user fee online for getting enrolled at all affiliated sports complexes.
Both players and members have to undergo the same process before getting membership in the desired sports complex.
At present, forms are made available online. Interested persons, after getting approval for the coach concerned (in the form of signatures), submit the fee by cash at the Sector 42 Sports Complex to get his/her identification or membership card. The identification or membership card is made manually by the clerical staff of the department and handed over to the member.
As per the new process, interested player/member will fill the form online and apply for membership at the desired sports complex. The request will be approved or rejected online by the respective coach. Thereafter, the member will proceed to pay the user fee online. The member will also have to upload other documents. Pay slip generated will be the new identification/membership card of the member. It can be renewed in future by just putting the identification or membership number, claimed highly placed sources.
“This process has been proposed and almost approved by the authorities concerned. After getting the final nod from higher officials, the process will be introduced in the department,” said a highly placed official on condition of anonymity.
However, before introducing this new process, the department has to upgrade the coaching staff with a special mobile application and provide the assistance to the clerical staff for getting track of the fee received online.
“Before making it public, the department has to run the system at its end. Coaches have to be made familiar with the process as their approval or rejection will come online. Also, the clerical staff, who keeps a record of the user fee and allots membership cards, has to be trained. So, this is not an overnight process. This will take a month or more before it becomes a regular feature of the department,” said a senior functionary.
The Sports Department has nearly 20 sports complexes functioning under it. These include Lake Sports Complex, Sector 7 sports complex, Sector 10 skating rink, Sector 16 cricket stadium, Sector 17 football stadium (currently under the Horticulture Department), Sector 18 hockey stadium, Sector 23 all-weather swimming pool, Sector 23 open swimming pool, Sector 23 table tennis hall, Sector 34, Sector 38 (West), Sector 39, Sector 42, Sector 43, Sector 46, Sector 50, Sector 56, Mani Majra and Sarangpur multipurpose sports complexes. The membership is allotted manually at a majority of these complexes.
