Six records fall on final day

Six new records were set on the final day of the 50th edition of the Caliut University inter-collegiate athletics championship at the University Stadium here on Wednesday.
Among the records to fall was the one set by Subhash George in the men’s triple jump in 1981-82. The new mark belongs to Sanal Scaria of Christ (Irinjalakuda); he cleared a distance of 15.63m, 0.01m more than the existing record.
Christ also retained the men’s overall title comfortably, totalling 91 points, while Sree Krishna (Guruvayur) was second with 70 and St. Thomas (Thrissur) third with 13.
Mercy (Palakkad) retained the women’s crown with 62 points, pipping Christ by just three points. Calicut University Teaching Department came third with 23 points.
