Sikkim Kickboxers shine in national Kickboxing Championship

Sikkim kick boxers won 11 medals in the WAKO India Senior National Kickboxing Championship 2019 held at Rothak, Haryana recently.
A nine-member Sikkim team had participated in the championship. They won five gold medals, four silver and two bronze medals.
Phurba Sherpa won a gold medal in 52-kg weight category, Srijana Chettri won a gold medal in 52-kg K1, Phur Khandu Sherpa won two gold medals in 55-kg light contact and kick light, Mandira Karki won a gold medal in point fight and a silver medal in musical form, Vivek Rai won a silver medal in 60-kg K1, Phur Deeki Sherpa won a silver medal and a bronze medal in 50-kg light contact and kick light, Mukesh Chettri won a silver medal in 57-kg light contact and Pawan Subba won a bronze medal in 63-kg point fight.
The gold medal winners also qualified for upcoming WAKO World Kickboxing Championship to be held in November this year in Turkey and Bosniam, it was informed.
All the medal winners were felicitated today by Sikkim Amateur Kickboxing Association at Paljor Stadium here.
