SGGS gymnasts shine

Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, won the Panjab University Inter-College Artistic Gymnastics Championship for Men here today. The team topped the podium with 230.85 points.
DAV College, Sector 10, finished second with 201.03 points, while AS College, Khanna, scored 64.05 points to claim the third spot.
In the individual category, Swatish KP of SGGS College scored 12.90 points to win the gold medal in the men’s roman rings competition. He was followed by DAV College’s Keshav (12.40) and college-mate Hafizur (11.05) in second and third places, respectively.
SGGS gymnasts Mohd Afsal Khan (11.60) and Hafizur (11.50) claimed the top-two positions, respectively, in vault table. Vinod Bhat of DAV College (10.95) bagged the third position.
Swatish won his second gold medal in the parallel bars competition. The SGGS gymnast scored 12.00 points to claim the top spot. Keshav (11.80) bagged the silver, while Akash (11.60) of GGD SD College, Sector 32, returned home with the bronze medal.
Swatish picked his third gold medal in horizontal bars. He scored 11.05 points to lead the field. Keshav (10.30) won the silver, while Hafizur and Mohit Manro scored 10.20 points each to share the bronze medal.
Meanwhile, in the apparatus category, Karandeep of GGD SD College claimed gold medal in floor exercise with a total of 10.90 points. Hafizur (10.80) pocketed the silver, while Swatish (10.70) bagged the bronze medal.
Akash scored 11.10 points to top the podium in pommel horse contest. He was followed by Keshav (10.85) and Hafizur (10.20) in second and third places, respectively.
