Selection trials for colleges concluded in LudhianaAugust 13, 2019, Ludhiana
As many as 470 players (boys and girls) attended the selection trials conducted by the Punjab Sports Department at different venues in the district of Ludhiana on Monday.
According to Ravinder Singh, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana, these trials were held in 17 sports disciplines to enrol sportspersons with the sports wings of colleges, affiliated to Panjab
University, Chandigarh, for the 2019-2020 session.
Giving details, the DSO said the disciplines include athletics, basketball, boxing, badminton, cycling, football, gymnastics, hockey, handball, kabaddi (national style), kho-kho, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting and wrestling.
The selection panels constituted for the selection of eligible players watched these aspirants during the trials. The selected players would be registered under the wings as per requirements. They would be provided with facilities such as sports kit, training and diet/ refreshment money of Rs100 per head daily, Ravinder Singh said.
