Producing his vintage best, Viswanathan Anand subjected World No. 2 Fabiano Caruana to a 42-move masterclass and moved into the joint lead with Anish Giri after three rounds of Tata Steel chess tournament here on Monday.
A second successive victory with white raised Anand’s tally to 2.5 points and matched Giri’s tally after the overnight leader drew with Peter Svidler.
Vidit beats Baseem
In the Challenger section, top seed Vidit Gujrathi defeated second-seeded Egyptian Amin Baseem in 59 moves to share the lead with Anton Korobov at 2.5 points.
D. Harika drew for the third straight round after playing with white pieces against local Erwin L’Ami.
