India’s badminton prospects have improved drastically over the last 4 years since Glasgow 2014. With notable competitors taking part in almost all badminton events, it is easy to look upon the men’s doubles squad. Two of the upcoming shuttlers, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are aiming to end the country’s men’s doubles medal drought at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast in just their first appearance.

The 17-year-old Satwiksairaj and the 20-year-old Chirag are optimistic about their future. “No Indian men’s pair has won a medal at the CWG. If you look at the pool, Olympic silver and Olympic bronze medalist from Malaysia and England respectively are playing but we have been playing well, so we are confident of a good show.” Said Chirag.

India would be hoping for a miracle from the youngsters.
