Sania Mirza and her partner Peng Shuai defeated the Hungarian-Czech duo of Tímea Babos and Andrea Hlavackova 7-6(5), 6-4 to enter the semifinals on Thursday.
After trading breaks, the first set went into a tie-breaker which Sania and Peng clinched at 7-5. In the second set, the duo broke at 4-2 before losing serve immediately. Sania then served out the match. The match, which was played over two days owing to rain, lasted all of an hour and 56 minutes.
The duo now will face the winner of the match between Martina Hingis/Hao-Ching Chan and Yung Han-Chan/Shuai Zhang.
