Roots-AITA: Shrawasti upsets top seed, marches into SFs

Shrawasti Kundilya recorded an upset win by defeating top seed Mehak Gupta to sail into the girls’ U-14 semifinals in the ongoing Roots-AITA talent Series (TS7) National Ranking Championship in Chandigarh.
Shrawasti played an attacking game and easily won the first set 6-1, but Mehak improved to level the scores by clinching the next set 2-6. In the decider, both players fought a fierce battle but Shrawasti held her nerves to pull off a 6-4 victory. Ayushi Prajaat, meanwhile, marched ahead by defeating Gurnaaz Toor 6-1 6-1. Radha ousted Inaaya Mittal 6-0 6-2, while Shriya Singh also moved into the semis by defeating Isheeta Midha 7-5 6-2.
Top seed Inaaya Mittal marched into the semis by registering a comeback win over Mehak Preet Kaur in the girls’ U-12 category. She lost the first set 3-6, but recovered by taking the next two sets 6-4 6-2. Isheeta Midha eased past Rhosyn William, while Gurnaaz Toor defeated Ekam Kaur by identical scores of 6-1 6-1. Second seed Akshdha Sharma also logged a 6-1 6-1 win over Priyanshi Katial.
