Richest tournament attracts top talent

The 15th HCL International bridge championship will commence here on September 12 at the JW Marriott, Aerocity.
This year, the championship has attracted 700 players (132 teams), including 20 international teams from countries like Israel, Sweden, Denmark, Egypt, Russia and Poland among others.
The total prize money on offer at this six-day event is Rs. 1.8 crore ($270,000), making it the highest prize purse for any bridge tournament globally. Organised under the auspices of Bridge Federation of India, the event will see noted international players including Giorgio Duboin (World No. 20) and Norberto Bocchi (No. 30) from Italy, and the top female duo of Hila Levi and Adi Asulin from Israel.
Four sections
The event consists of Team of Four Gold for the Naresh Tandan Trophy, Team of Four Silver for the Mohini Nandan Trophy, Open Pairs for the Neena Bonarji Trophy, Swiss Pairs” and “IMP Pairs”.
