Second seed Radhika Vasudeva humbled seventh seed Pawandeep Kaur 7-5 7-5 to set up the title clash with top seed Simran Pritam in the girls’ U-18 category on the penultimate day of the CLTA-AITA Championship Series (CS-7) Tennis Tournament here today.
Simran overcame sixth seed Harnoor Kaur Sidhu in the semis. She won 6-1 2-6 7-5.
Eighth seed Khaira Chetnani came from behind to beat seventh seed Bhumika Gupta 4-6 6-1 6-2 and enter the girls’ U-16 final, where she will meet third seed Vanya Arora, who edged out Bhumi Kakkar 7-5 6-3 in the semis.
Naresh in final
In the boys’ U-18 semifinals, sixth seed Naresh Badgujar downed Navya Verma 6-3 6-4, while second seed Sarthak Gandhi outplayed qualifier Sarthak Arora. Gandhi won 6-1 6-3.
Anirudh Sangra stunned third seed Arjun Jitendra 7-6(6) 6-3 in the boys’ U-16 semifinals. In the final, Sangra will face second seed Navya Verma, who blanked seventh seed Rakshit Dhankar 6-0 6-0 in the last-four contest.
Naresh-Jitin triumph
Naresh Badgujar and Jitin Kumar Chetry, meanwhile, defeated third seed pair of Navya Verma and Gaurav Kumar to claim the boys’ U-18 doubles title. The duo won 6-2 7-5.
The final matches in all the age-groups will be played on Friday.
