World Number 246 Prajnesh Gunneswaran will now lead India’s singles charge in their Davis Cup tie against China on April 6-7. Bhambri recently beat world number 12 Lucas Pouille in straight sets in the ATP Masters match in the United States. However, he is suffering for an abdominal tear and would not feature against China.
The Asia/Oceania Group 1 tie would also feature Leander Paes for the first time in over a year. He will partner with Mahes Bhupati in the men’s doubles match. India lead China 3-0 in head to head matches.
