Poster making and lecture series on GuruparbNovember 16, 2019, Chandigarh
As part of the celebration of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the Department of History organised the poster-making competition on the Guru, his ideology, teachings, poetry and messages in Chandigarh. In all, 15 entries were received and the posters were displayed and judged by the faculty of the department. Prizes were bagged by Prof Surinder Singh (Retd), Prof M Rajivlochan and Prof Anju Suri, chairperson of the department.
Certificates of participation were given to all participants.
And in DAV College, Sector 10 a lecture series was organised to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev by the Evening Studies Department. Prof Sarbjeet Singh, former head, Kendriya Punjabi Lekhik Sabha, Panjab University, expressed his views on ‘Relevance of Gurbani in contemporary Indian society’. He highlighted the importance of Guru’s teachings. “The challenges that existed 550 years ago are still relevant,” he said.
Prof Sukhdev Singh Sirsa, former Chairperson, Punjabi Department, PU, spoke on ‘Guru Nanak baani and inter-faith dialogue’. Principal Pawan Kumar Sharma said Guru’s ideologies needed to be revived for the survival of mankind and nature. Organisers Harjit Singh and Rajinder Singh thanked the speakers.
