Observe Yoga Day today, CBSE tells schools

Although summer vacations in schools are on, but students will attend schools on June 21 on the occasion of International Yoga Day, as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued guidelines for holding yoga sessions on school premises today. Schools have also been asked to submit the report of the celebrations, along with photographs.

In the circular issued by Anurag Tripathi, secretary, CBSE, he mentioned that all schools affiliated with the board have been advised to participate in the country-wide movement for the promotion of health and well-being by celebrating the fifth International Yoga Day. Students from Class I to XII would be involved in the activity which schools are to organise with mass yoga demonstrations from 7 am to 8 am on school campuses. The activities may be musical or any other art integrated yoga event, including debate, essay, quizzes, slogan-writing or drawing competitions. The activities are to only to be based on yoga similar themes.

Besides, schools have been asked to submit a detailed report of the activities, along with photographs. Vishali, a student, was excited to be a part of the International Yoga Day. “I practice yoga and had joined classes during summer vacation. If all went well I may be leading the group,” she said.
