Umtili Secondary School from Meghalaya beat St. Columba’s Collegiate School from Jharkhand 3-1 to enter the under-17 girls’ semifinals of the 58th Subroto Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Monday.

In the semifinals, the Meghalaya team will meet Krida Sikhsha Protisthan, Bangladesh, which sent Government Senior Higher Secondary School from Bhiwani packing 2-1.

Attacking well on both flanks, thanks to an efficient midfield, the Meghalaya girls scored through Nisilia but three minutes later Jharkhand equalised when Saraswati scored. In the second half, Wandashisha and Nisilia put it beyond Jharkhand with a goal each.

Girls (quarterfinals): Krida Shiksha Protisthan 2 (Shaeeda Akthar, Mukta Sarkar) bt Government Senior HSS, Haryana 1 (Jyoti).
