Nehwal, Sindhu and Srikanth advance to the next round of the Badminton Asia Championships

The Badminton Asia Championships being played in Wuhan saw the top Indian seeds in action on the first day. While Saina Nehwal and P.V. Sindhu cruised past their opponents, Kidambi Srikanth had to script a comeback win to make it through to the last round.

Nehwal beat Singapore’s Yeo Jia Min 21-12, 21-9 in straight sets. P.V. Sindh overcame Chinese Taipei’s Pai Yu Po 21-14, 21-19 in the women’s singles competition. In the men’s singles, top seed and CWG silver medallist Srikanth eked out a come-from-behind 13-21, 21-16, 21-16 win over Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto.
