National Volleyball Championship; Girls from Faridabad shine in Haryana victory

Three girls from Faridabad were key in Haryana victory at Para sitting national Volleyball championship where team from Haryana won gold. Championship was held in Irod city, Tamil Nadu from 5th-6th July. In route to the gold medal, Haryana team defeated teams from Jharkhand, Uttrakhand, Rajasthan, Karnataka.

Swana, Lakshmi and Shipra Thakral hail from Fraidabad and played major roles in this major victory of their state. The final was played between Hryana and Rajasthan which to say the least was most thrilling match of the tournament. Along with this, men team also emerged victorious after defeating Tamil Nadu in final. At the end both teams from Haryana brought the Para Sitting National Volleyball championship trophy to the state.

Trinity of Swana, Laksmi and Shipra lives in Old Faridabad and Arya Nagar of Faridabad. It was the first time for Swana and Shipra at a national level competition. But not for Lakshmi, as she has earlier won medals at both national and international level for her country. Lakshmi along with sprinting is also good at long jump.
