National School Games: Punjab boys & girls storms into finals of Netball

On the fifth and penultimate day of the 65th National School Games, being held at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Punjab Agricultural University here today, hosts Punjab proved their class to enter the finals in netball in the boys and girls (U-19) sections.

In the boys’ section, Punjab beat Indian Public Schools Conference (IPSC) while Delhi defeated Chhattisgarh to set up the title clash, and in the girls’ category, Punjab outplayed Delhi whereas Chhattisgarh outperformed Kerala to settle for the summit clash.

Rupinder Singh Ravi, state organiser, was the chief guest today. Among others who were present there included Ajit Pal Singh, Kanwaljot Kaur, Balwinder Singh Kalia and M Longia.

Wushu (girls U-19)

Below 36-kg: Samiksha (Maharashtra) first, Jasleen Kaur (Punjab) second, Priyanshi Batheja (Madhya Pradesh) and Laxmi (Delhi) third.

Below 40-kg: Bharti Mahadik (Maharashtra) first, Majida EP (Kerala) second, Barkha Sharma (Madhya Pradesh) and Supriya Kumari (Bihar) third.

Below 45-kg: Ritu Swami (Punjab) first, Siddhi Jadhav (Maharashtra) second, Monika (Rajasthan) and Kaju Sondhya (Madhya Pradesh) third.

Below 48-kg: Shabna KM (Kerala) first, Amisha Kumari (Bihar) second, Sonali (Punjab) and Tanushree Wasnik (Maharashtra) third.
