Nagpur boy Dev Sharma claims sixth National Level Under-11 squash titleJuly 2, 2018, Mumbai
Continuing his winning streak, Dev Sharma bagged back-to-back Under-11 boys titles taking his tally to six in the All India Junior Squash Championship.
Ten-year-old city boy won his 5th title in the U-11 boys category at the NSCI All India Junior Squash meet held in Mumbai last week at the NSCI Club.
India No. 2 Dev trounced third seed Anshuman Jaising of Mumbai 3-0 in a one-sided semifinal. He then went on to win against top seed and India No. 1 Gurveer Singh of Chandigarh. Dev confidently played a well-fought match to edge out Gurveer by a close margin of 3-2.
His sixth title got him his largest trophy ever at the Gymkhana Classic Junior Squash Championship held at New Delhi recently.
With back-to-back tournaments, Dev did not have a chance to recover from his knee injury but continued to win 3-2 by a close margin against Ayush Pal in the semifinals.
The in-form player then went on to dominate the court in the final against second seed Priyaan Thakker. Dev demolished Priyaan 3-0. Dev performed very well and impressed one and all with his oustanding display in pressure situations.
Dev, who trains under Puneet Singh, Vijay Jangra and Premchand Rai, is looking forward to some more tournaments organized by the Squash Rackets Federation of India in the next few months as a part of the national circuit.
