Ludhiana’s karatekas on roll, bags nine medals

Ludhioana’s karatekas won nine medals, including three gold, in the Punjab State Pro Karate Competition held at Goal Bagh, Amritsar, on January 18 and 19.

Around 300 participants from across the state took part in this two-day competition and those from Ludhiana district made their presence felt, securing positions in the Kumite event.

Shihan Ashok Chohan, general secretary, Ludhiana District Karate Do Association, and director, Ashok Karate School, said players who finished among position holders at Amritsar were accorded warm welcome on their arrival at the local railway station.

The medal winners include Nikhil who secured gold medal in the below 50-kg weight category in the U-15 years age group and Gurasis Kaur won silver medal in the U-11 years age group in the below 40-kg weight section while Gurkirpal Singh clinched gold medal in the below 60-kg weight category in the boys U-14 section.
