Ludhiana’s judokas finished 3rd at state meet

Judo trainees at the coaching centre run by the local office of the Punjab Sports Department in Ludhiana at the multipurpose hall of Guru Nanak Stadium won six medals in the state-level competition held at Ferozepur.
Six boys from the centre, getting coaching from the department coaches Parveen Thakur and Navdeep Jindal, made their presence in this competition, organised under the Tandrust Punjab Mission to celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.
Trainees of the centre Alok, Nikit Sareen, Prem, Varun, Mukul and Anmol took part in this competition and finished among the position holders.
In the below 50-kg weight category, Alok piped his opponents to clinch gold medal while Prem, Varun and Nikit Sareen secured silver medals in the below 45-kg weight group, below 55-kg weight section and plus 90-kg category, respectively.
Trainees added two bronze medals to their kitty which also fetched them the overall third position. The bronze medal winners are Mukul in the below 90-kg weight and Anmol below 80-kg weight categories.
