Lifter Sanjita Chanu’s provisional suspension revoked by IWF

Manipuri weightlifter to return to the competitive arena. Khumukcham Sanjita Chanu, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) on Wednesday revoked her provisional suspension for a failed dope test. Sanjita who had returned positive for anabolic steroid ‘testosterone’ ahead of the World Championship in Anaheim, US in November 2017, has decided to report to the national camp in NIS, Patiala to prepare for the Olympic Qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Games. In the same championship, her compatriot Mirabai Chanu had clinched a historic gold in the 48kg category. “I have seen the good news today. I am innocent and I have never taken any banned substance. I am just relieved this is over and I can concentrate on my sport again.
