LBA men & Amritsar girls emerged as state Champions

The Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) and Amritsar district emerged as champions in the men’s and women’s section, respectively in the 70th Senior Punjab State Basketball Championship, which concluded at Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana.

Matches in the four-day tournament were played on league basis and the trainees of the LBA (men) proved too good for their opponents, wrapping up all the encounters to romp home victorious whereas in the women’s category, Amritsar district stamped their superiority to lift the trophy.

In the men’s section, Jalandhar and Amritsar districts secured second and third positions, respectively, while Faridkot finished at the fourth spot whereas in the women’s section, LBA finished as first runners-up and Jalandhar district ranked third. The Ropar district had to content with the fourth position.

Rakesh Aggarwal, Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, and Sukhpal Singh Brar, an Arjuna awardee (volleyball) and the DCP, gave away prizes to the winners. JP Singh and Teja Singh Dhaliwal, vice-president and general secretary, respectively, of the Punjab Basketball Association, were also present on the occasion.
