Lakshya successfully aims gold after 53 years in Junior Badminton Tournament

Almora’s local boy Lakshya Sen becomes the second shuttler for the Indian side in last 53 years to accomplish Junior Asian Badminton Tournament’s top podium position spot. In the recently concluded Badminton Tournament played in Jakarta, Lakshya Sen played his final match against Thailand’s top seed player and number one spot gainer in Junior category Kunlawut Viditsarn.
In order to achieve the milestone, Lakshya played marvelously throughout the game and changed his positioning from the losing side to the winning side in final moments of the game. Pride of India, Lakshya Sen hunts for the ace mark in the final match by producing a scoreline of 21-19 and 21-18.
Lakshya Sen, the emerging shuttler for India has trained under former Indian badminton champion Prakash Padukone and Vimal Kumar in the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy. With junior Asian Badminton title, Sen now qualifies for the sixth seed grade player as his national best. In the semi-final match of the tournament, Sen formed his commanding lead in the game against local favorite and most prominent claimant of the title Ili Rumbe with a scoreline of 21-07 and 21-14.
Lakshya Sen has now scripted his name amongst the great players who have won the Asian title in past years. One Indian name has made it to the top of the achievers’ list with Taufiq Hidayat, Lin Dan, and Chang Lang.
