Krishan into the 2nd round of the U-16 Tennis Nationals

Nirav Shetty of Maharashtra was humbled by Chandigarh’s Krishan Hooda in straight sets to seal the spot in the second round of CCI Ramesh Desai Memorial U-16 Tennis Nationals at the Mumbai’s Cricket Club of India on Monday. The fifth seed was won 6-2 6-2.
The second seed between Haryana’s Chirag Duhan was won by Chirag 6-0 6-1, against state mate Jasmeet Duhan.
Karan Singh, also from Haryana, rallied from a set down to West Bengal’s Apurnava Majumdar. The ninth seed lost the opening set 3-6, but came back strongly to clinch the next two sets 6-3 6-0 to stay alive in the competition.
Chandigarh’s Jitin Chetry, meanwhile, bowed to Maharashtra’s Karim Khan 0-6 1-6. Haryana’s Aditya Nandal and Vansh Nandal also made an early exit from the tournament.
Aditya went down 4-6 0-6 to third seed Denim Yadav of Madhya Pradesh, while Vansh lost 4-6 0-6 to Maharashtra’s Daksha Agarwal. Haryana’s Ansh Kundu also crashed out in the opening round. Kundu succumbed 2-6 0-6 to Anargha Ganguly of Maharashtra.
Bushan Haobam of Manipur and Arjun Gohad of Maharashtra also carved out surprise first round victories. Haobam upset seventh seed Aayush Bhat of Karnataka 4-6 6-0 6-2, while Gohad accounted for 13th seed Dhanya Shah of Gujarat1-6 6-2 6-1.
