Kidambi Srikanth felicitated by Indian embassy in Paris

Kidambi Srikanth was felicitated by the Indian embassy in Paris as the Denmark Open Super Series Premier winner reached the French capital for the French Open, starting on Wednesday.
Srikanth, on Sunday, became only the second Indian to win the men’s singles title in Denmark after Prakash Padukone won the tournament in 1980.
The 24-year-old destroyed Korean veteran Lee Hyun Il 21-10, 21-5 in the final to lift the coveted trophy.
On Monday evening, the Indian embassy organised an event to felicitate Indian shuttlers and the event was attended by the likes of Srikanth, PV Sindhu, Ashwini Ponappa, N Sikki Reddy, B Sai Praneeth, HS Prannoy, Satwik Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty and Pranaav Jerry Chopra. Saina Nehwal opted to give the event a miss.
The president of the French Badminton Federation Florent CHayet presented Srikanth with a bouquet felicitating the Indian for his achievements this year, which includes three Super Series title in Indonesia, Australia and Denmark.
Back at home, The Badminton Association of India announced a cash reward of Rs 5 Lakh for Srikanth, in view of his Denmark Open victory.
“We are very proud of what Srikanth has achieved in the Danish Open. Our boys are on a roll and I can only see them winning more laurels for the country,” BAI President Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Srikanth, Sindhu and Saina will lead India’s charge in the singles category at the French Open.
