Khelo India to kick start from today

The 3rd edition of the Khelo India Youth Games is all set to be inaugurated today at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Sarusajai, Guwahati.
Although the Games will be inaugurated today, some of the events began yesterday. The 20-discipline Games will be held in eight different venues where 6,800 athletes from across 37 states and union territories will compete.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Minister of State (I/C) for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju, along with a host of athletes will be present in the opening ceremony.
State-of-the-art infrastructure has been set up for the Games in different venues and host Assam is fully geared up to conduct the multi-sport event.
Some preliminary kabaddi matches were held on Thursday at LNIPE Indoor Stadium, Tepesia in Sonapur.
Yesterday’s kabaddi results: (Pool B U-17 Boys) Rajasthan bt Karnataka by 15 points, Tamil Nadu bt Madhya Pradesh by 2 points, Bihar beat Delhi by 4 points. (Pool A U-17 Boys) Maharashtra bt Chhattisgarh by 23 points, Haryana bt Assam by 45 points. (Pool A U-17 Girls) Bihar bt Delhi by 3 points, Haryana bt Kerala by 37 points. (Pool B U-17 Girls) Chhattisgarh bt Assam by 13 points. (Pool A U-21 Boys) Chandigarh bt Assam by 21 points, Maharashtra bt Gujarat by 8 points. (Pool B U-21 Girls) Haryana bt Karnataka by 33 points. (Pool A U-21 Girls) Himachal Pradesh bt Assam by 20 points. (Pool B U-21 Boys) Telangana bt Tamil Nadu by 8 points, Telangana bt UP by 15 points.
