For the first time in the history of the Chandigarh Football Academy (CFA), an entire batch of its trainees have signed contracts with various clubs even before the completion of their seven-year stint at the academy.

While Nabeel Khan, Shabby Khan, Amanjot, Napoleon, Beckham, Gobinddas, Shiv Chaudhary, Lovepreet and Pawan Kumar, who all joined the academy in 2013, have signed a five-year contract with Kerala Blasters’ junior squad, Karan has been signed by a local club. Striker Johnson had earlier signed a deal with Bengaluru FC.

“It’s a great achievement for our academy. All the trainees of our 2013 batch have been selected by various clubs. Napoleon and Beckham have also been selected to represent India in the SGFI Asian Championship,” said former India international and CFA head coach Harjinder Singh.

Earlier, five players of the same batch were selected for the Indian junior team. In April, CFA lads had played two practice matches against India U-16 probable squad and after assessing their performance, five of them were selected for the national side.
