Fourth International Day of Yoga was celebrated enthusiastically at Kendriya Vidyalaya Sector 47, Chandigarh. The session was attended by more than 900 yoga enthusiasts, including students and teachers. The event commenced with the special morning assembly based on the theme Yoga. PK Walia, yoga teacher, conducted an hour-long yoga session in which yoga mudras, asanas and pranayam were practised. The session concluded with a special relaxation and laughter session. Principal PC Sharma stressed on practising yoga on regular basis as it boosts mental, physical and emotional well-being of an individual.
International Yoga Day was celebrated at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector 31, Chandigarh. A special yoga session was organised in which 925 students and teachers along with Principal Sandhya Sharma performed various asanas and breathing exercises with an aim to ignite a passion for fitness and yoga among students.
Kendriya Vidyalaya, FAD Dappar
International Yoga Day was celebrated at Kendriya Vidyalaya, FAD Dappar. Staff and students took active part in celebrating Yoga Day. Various asanas and kriyas were performed. The importance of yoga on physical and spiritual health was taught to students. Principal Anita Singh said yoga was a single path to attain multiple objectives of physical, mental and spiritual well-being. All staff members took a pledge to practice yoga everyday to achieve a better physical, mental and spiritual health.
International Yoga Day was celebrated with zeal at DAV Model School, Sector 15, Chandigarh. Principal Anuja Sharma, teachers and students performed various asanas on the school campus.
Young AKSIPIANS of AKSIPS-41 Smart School, Chandigarh, celebrated International Yoga Day on the school premises. PTI instructors of the school performed yoga exercises in the park and taught the gathering how to lead a healthy life through yoga. An inter-branch yoga competition was organised at AKSIPS-65, Mohali. AKSIPS-41 Smart School emerged the overall winner by winning the first prize and also got the overall winner trophy and certificates. The team comprised of U-11 (girls) and U-14 (girls).
Government Model High School (GMHS), Sector 41, Chandigarh, celebrated fourth International Yoga Day. Students, teachers, Group D staff and community members participated and performed various asanas along with the yoga instructor. The participants took pledge to make yoga part of their life in future.
Sharda Sarvhitkari, Chandigarh
International Yoga Day was celebrated at Sharda Sarvhitkari Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 40, Chandigarh. This was followed by a prayer, chanting of hymns and oath taking. Students of Classes VI to XII with teachers and parents performed different yoga asanas.
DAV Police Public School, P’kula
Fourth International Yoga Day was celebrated at DAV Police Public School, Panchkula. Prior to this, a three-day yoga camp was organised to prepare students, their mothers and staff of DAV Police Public School, Panchkula, for the grand celebration. The day began with the recitation of Gayatri Mantra, which was followed by a brief talk on yoga. Some warm up exercises were done before starting with various asanas. This was followed by pranayam and the programme ended with Shanti Paath. Principal spoke about the importance of yoga in bringing harmony between the mind and body.
SIS Public School, Mohali
SIS Public School, Phase 7, Mohali, organised a yoga camp for teachers. The teachers performed various asanas and pranayams. They were given detailed briefing about every asana, its uses, posture and technique. Principal Inderpreet Kaur Sandhu said yoga was a supreme source of energy and solace and every individual must make it a part of their regime.
