Junior Punjab Basketball Championship: LBA boys thumped Mansa in opener

Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) and Ludhiana district recorded authentic victories in their respective matches in the boy’s section in the 70th Junior Punjab State Basketball Championship, which began at Guru Nanak Stadium at Ludhiana on Sunday. The LBA thumped Mansa district (84-41), while Ludhiana district thrashed Kapurthala district (71-27) to begin their campaign on a high note.

In another match in boys’ section, Hoshiarpur district survived a scare against Ludhiana Rural before coming out triumphant 42-38. One match was played in the girls’ section, in which Mohali overpowered Kapurthala district 57-38.
Satish Gupta, president of Jagannath Food for Life, declared the championship open. Advocate Anil Saluja and Raju Skylark, a prominent sports promoter, were the guests of honour. 22 teams are taking part in this championship.

Vijay Chopra, finance secretary, Punjab Basketball Association (PBA), along with Balkar Singh Brar and Teja Singh Dhaliwal, vice-president and general secretary, respectively, of the association, were also present.
