Jarkhar sports festival: Six sports personalities felicitated

The Mata Sahib Kaur Sports Charitable Trust, Jarkhar, felicitated six prominent personalities during the 33rd Jarkhar Sports Festival at Jarkhar village near here today.These personalities, including sportspersons, social activists and sports promoters, were honoured for their outstanding contributions in their respective fields.They were presented sirupas and citations. Later, they were taken around the stadium in open vehicles.
The honoured persons are Surjan Chatha, a kabaddi promoter, with the Amarjit Grewal Award; international swimmer Arshpreet Kaur Grewal with Mohinder Partap Grewal Award; social activist Gurpreet Singh for his services towards humanity with the Bhagat Puran Singh Award; kabaddi star Gurlal Ghanaur with the Punjab Da Maan Award; former coach of the Indian boxing team GS Sandhu with the Lifetime Achievement Award and famous Punjabi singer Karan Aujla with the Jagdev Singh Jassowal Cultural Award.
Meanwhile, in the kabaddi competition (village), Lasara village beat Kalsian to emerge winners, Babbu Lasara Gill was declared the best raider whereas Amna Lasara Gill and Lattu Lasara were adjudged the best stoppers, jointly.In kabaddi (all open), Metro Kabaddi Club of Sydney and Shinda Saholi Kabaddi Club of Seattle came out triumphant in their respective matches to set up the title clash.
