Japleen and Devansh cruises into next round

Divansh Soni and Japleen Kaur scripted victories in first round matches of the boys and girls U-15 section on the opening day of the Open Ludhiana District Badminton Tournament being held at Shastri Hall near Guru Nanak Stadium.
Divansh Soni outplayed Ansh Malhotra 21-12, 21-16 whereas Japleen Kaur proved too good for Jiya Goel whom she defeated comfortably 21-4, 21-5 to move into the second round.
Mohinder Singh Grewal, President of the District Badminton Association, Ludhiana, inaugurated the tournament in which competition in the boys and girls U-15 and 17 as well as in the men and women sections will be conducted.
Anupam Kumaria and Charanjit Singh, general secretary and technical secretary, respectively, of the association, along with other members were also present on this occasion.
