ITF National Taekwondo: Team J&K claims runner up trophy

Union Territory of J&K won the first runner-up trophy of the 16th National ITF Taekwondo Championship held at Udaipur, Rajasthan from December 29 to 31, 2019.

In the aforesaid championship, a 24-member team from the Union Territory of J&K participated. 

J&K got the first runner-up shield in the medals category with 18 gold, six silver and three bronze medals followed by Rajasthan which won 14 gold, nine silver and eight bronze medals. Gujarat was on the top slot with 30 gold, 18 silver and seven bronze medals. The two students from J&K UT, Bhavin Thakur and Geetansh Thakur were qualified for the 2nd Degree Black Belt.

The team was led by Chief Coach Mukesh Thakur, Pawan Jamwal (Vice President of Association) and Sachin Thakur (Treasurer). 

The best referee award of the championship was presented to Mukesh Thakur, 3rd Dan Black Belt.

Winners Gold: Sparsh, Santushti, Simran, Vansh Rathore, Manpreet Singh, Arsh Sharma, Akshdeep Singh, Kaustav Mukherjee, Saksham Banerjee, Karan Gandotra, Rohit Kumar, Hardik Gupta, Raju Kumar, Geetansh Thakur and Bhavin Thakur. Silver: Himadri Rana, Abhirath Chambyal, Shaurya Sharma, Pavneet Kour, Akshdeep Singh, Vinayak Pandey and Geetansh Thakur. Bronze: Vansh Rathore, Kaustav Mukherjee, Saksham Banerjee and Bhavin Thakur.
