Ishi shines at Championship series as she bags three medals

Ishi Maheshwari of the city performed brilliantly in Under-12 and 14 of the National Championship Series which ended on 13 September in Karnal. Ishi captured the Under-14 doubles title with ease but wasn’t able to pull that magic in other two finals of Under-12 and 14 singles as she runners-up. Ishi, a resident of Sector-23, has also performed well in various national level competitions earlier.
In the under-14s Ishi teamed up with Mahika Khanna to win the title by defeating Riju Chauhan and Adra Parihar 6-3, 6-4 in straight sets. In the final, the pair scored points with excellent returns, service etc. In the tournament, both the pair recorded easy victories in earlier matches. In the under-12 singles category too, Ishii performed well, reaching the finals. In the Under-14 title match, he competed against rival player Mahika Khanna. Ishi was defeated 6–1, 6–7, (6–3) in the final. At the same time, this player of the city reached the under-12. He was defeated by Diwanshi in the title match. Ishi, a sixth standard student of SBS School, is learning the nuances of the game from Vinita and Aditya at Leicester Tennis Academy, Sector 110. These players practice on the tennis court for 3-4 hours every day for better performance in the game. Ishi’s mother Rachna said that the daughter will also participate in the Under-12 Super Series Tennis Championship to be held in Karnal from Monday. The competition is also expected to perform better.
